Meet Your Town Council
Ajax Town Council consists of a mayor, three regional councillors and three ward councillors.
It is the role of the head of council (the Mayor) to:
- act as chief executive officer of the municipality
- carry out the duties as the head of council under the Municipal Act or any other Act
- provide leadership to council
- preside over council meetings
- represent the municipality at official functions
- Mayoral Decisions and Mayoral Declarations
It is the role of council to:
- represent the public and to consider the well-being and interests of the municipality
- carry out the duties of council under the Municipal Act or any other Act
- develop and evaluate the policies and programs of the municipality
- determine which services the municipality provides
- ensure that administrative practices and procedures are in place to implement the decisions of council
- maintain the financial integrity of the municipality
Council Information Packages
The Council Information Package (CIP) keeps Ajax Council and the public informed on key issues.
The CIP includes items such as:
- Resolutions from other Municipalities
- Summary of Advisory Committees Activities
- Summary of Proclamations Issued
- Correspondence submitted to Council about items not on a current agenda of Council
- Items of Correspondence and Memoranda prepared by staff
The CIP is posted on the Town’s website and circulated to Council members. A member of Council can ask to add CIP items to a Council agenda for further discussion.
