The Ajax Public Library Older Adults Advisory Committee, in partnership with the Town of Ajax Older Adult Task Force, is excited to announce the fifth annual 55+ Amateur Photography Contest. Contest runs Monday, June 1–Monday, August 31

Official Contest Rules & Regulations
Eligibility
This promotion is open to current Town of Ajax residents, aged 55 and up.
The staff and immediate family members of the Ajax Library Board, the Ajax Public Library, the Older Adults Advisory Committee, the Town of Ajax Recreation & Culture Department, and the Town of Ajax Older Adults Task Force are not eligible to enter.
The Town of Ajax reserves the right to require proof of identity and/or eligibility, in a form satisfactory to it, to verify the eligibility of an entrant. Failure to provide proof of eligibility to the satisfaction of The Town of Ajax may result in the disqualification of the entrant, at the sole discretion of The Town of Ajax. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Town of Ajax reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of The Town of Ajax will be final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal. The 55+ Amateur Photography Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. By entering and/or accepting a prize, the entrants agree to irrevocably attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.
Contest Details
- No purchase is required.
- Photos must be taken within the Town of Ajax
- The contest begins at 9:00 a.m. EST on June 1 and ends at 5:00 p.m. EST on August 31, 2026.
- Four winners will be selected based on the following four categories:
- ARCHITECTURE: man-made structures. Examples include: buildings, towers, bridges, etc.
- NATURE: anything in nature. Examples include: trees, plants, animals, wild birds, flowers, etc.
- PORTRAITS: humans. Examples include: kids playing, people at an event, person playing a sport, etc.
- PICTORIAL: anything that does not fit in the other categories. Examples include: dogs, cats, food, house plants, etc.
- There are a total of four (4) prizes to be won valued at approximately $25.
- By entering this contest you have given the Town of Ajax permission to use photographs taken for promotional purposes.
Entries
- No purchase necessary. Entrants can submit an entry by submitting their name, address and method of contact (phone number, email) via the contest entry form. One entry per individual. Use of any automated system to submit entries is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
- The Town of Ajax holds the right to disqualify entries with inappropriate content at its discretion.
Judging and Publication
All entries must be submitted to The Town of Ajax by August 31, 5:00 p.m. EST in order to be eligible for participation. Winner will be announced by October 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Following the deadline, the winner will be notified by email. A staff member will provide details of when prizes are to be claimed.
The winner will be selected based on the individual submission for creativity and how photo falls under the selected category. The winner’s name and/or photo may be published across The Town of Ajax’s social media channels and other marketing publications. The Town of Ajax reserves the non-exclusive right to publish any entry and/or use any entry in promotional and advertising materials. The Town of Ajax reserves the right to request promotional rights from the entrant for the purposes of additional marketing.
The odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received. Following the deadline, the selected entrant will be notified by email. Selected entrant must confirm pick-up time with staff in order to claim the prize. Winner will be announced by October 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
If a selected entrant: (i) cannot be contacted within five (5) business days, (ii) fails to confirm the prize pick-up time, (iii) fails to provide proof of eligibility satisfactory to The Town of Ajax upon request and in the sole discretion of The Town of Ajax, and/or (iv) fails to claim the prize by the deadline noted above, the selected entrant will be disqualified and the prize will be forfeited. The Town of Ajax reserves the right to select an alternate entrant from the remaining eligible entries. The prize must be accepted “as is” and The Town of Ajax reserves the right to substitute the prize.
Responsibility
The Town of Ajax, all of its successor corporations and entities and their respective past, present and future elected and appointed officials, officers, representatives, employees, servants, agents, and their respective successors, assigns, heirs and administrators shall not be held responsible for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind, direct or indirect, with respect to or arising in any way from the contest, including but not limited to (i) entries that are lost, damaged, or delayed during transportation, (ii) any failure of the social media platform during this contest, and (iii) any problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any email, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or social media platform or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.
By entering the contest, each entrant consents to The Town of Ajax collecting, using and disclosing the personal information submitted with the entry for the purposes of administering the contest and notifying selected entrant(s) and winner(s) in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56, as amended.
Copyright Notice
With regard to any photograph(s) or video submitted to a contest promotion, the entrant, or the owner of copyright in the photograph or video, retains copyright. By submitting any photograph or video to a contest promotion, the entrant grants (or warrants that the owner of such materials expressly grants) The Town of Ajax a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials including its social media platforms and website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to The Town of Ajax publications. The Town of Ajax will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses. Winning entrants are required to sign a release containing the above conditions.
Winners will be announced in the fall.
55+ Programs & Resources
Now accepting vendor and exhibitor applications for all 2026 55+ Events. Whether you are a seniors service, community group or not-for-profit we want to hear from you! Applications for the Seniors BBQ (June 2) must be submitted by April 30. Applications for the 55+ Wellness and Information Fair must be submitted by July 30. Please note any new applications for the Seniors BBQ will be added to the waitlist.

Aging Well Month – Tuesday June 30, 2026

Join movie buff Tim Westhead to find out what’s beyond the silver screen! Enjoy discovering new and classic films that combine comedy with drama, including It Happened One Night, The Apartment and Catch Me If You Can, and make your love for film a more rewarding experience!

Two PROBUS Clubs operate in Ajax. PROBUS is a social club for retired and semi-retired individuals.
Membership includes monthly club meetings, guest speakers, and access to a broad range of activities, interest groups, and social events. Annual membership fee for each club.
