Available Programs and Benefits

Utility and Energy Bill Support

Durham Region Water Bill Assistance

Offer payment arrangements for customers who have difficulty paying their water bill. Can extend the date of the bill for customers 60 years of age or older. Call: 3-1-1.

Enbridge Golden Age Service

Offers customers 65 years and older the option to pay monthly gas bills when monthly pension cheque is received with no late penalty. Call: 1-877-362-7434.

Ontario Electricity Support Program

Provides monthly on-bill credits for eligible low-income customers to reduce their electricity bills. Call: 1-855-831-8151, TTY: 1-800-855-1155. Email: help@OntarioElectricitySupport.ca.

Low-Income Energy Assistance Program

One-time grant toward electricity or natural gas bill for those facing service shut-off. Community Development Council Durham is the local intake agency that offers this program. Call: 905-686-2661.

Tax Credits and Property Tax Support

Ontario Senior Homeowners Property Tax Grant

Helps to offset property taxes for seniors who own their home and who have low to moderate incomes. The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) administers this program for Ontario.
